Overview

KlearBooks is an AI financial assistant being built for students. This policy describes how we collect and use information through the website, waitlist, and, when available, connected financial accounts.

Information we collect

• Waitlist signups: name, email, student stage, money question, and the first topic you want help with.
• Newsletter signups: email address, if that feature is connected to an email service.
• Connected financial data (planned): when you choose to connect a financial account, we may access limited account information through Plaid so we can help you understand your money. See the Plaid section below for details.

Bank connections through Plaid

KlearBooks plans to use Plaid to securely connect financial accounts you choose to link. Plaid is a third-party service that helps apps access financial data without KlearBooks storing your bank login credentials.

From Plaid, we plan to use the following products:

• Transactions: to view account balances and transaction history so we can help you understand spending, income, and cash flow.
• Liabilities: to view information about debts such as loans or credit accounts, when available and when you allow it.
• Investments: to view investment account holdings and related balances, when available and when you allow it.

Important limits on what KlearBooks can do with connected accounts:

• We do not have direct access to your bank or investment accounts unless you explicitly allow a connection through Plaid.
• We do not make transfers, payments, withdrawals, purchases, or any other transactions on your behalf.
• We only view the balances, transactions, and related account information needed to provide educational insights and budgeting assistance.
• You can disconnect a linked account at any time, which stops future access to that account's data through KlearBooks.

How we use your information

• To manage the waitlist and early-access invitations
• To learn which student money topics are most important
• To send product updates you opt into
• To show balances, transactions, and related financial information in your dashboard when you connect an account
• To generate educational insights and budgeting help based on the financial data you allow us to view
• We do not sell waitlist or financial information

KlearBooks is not a bank, investment platform, tax software, or replacement for a financial professional. It provides educational information and AI-powered assistance, not tax, accounting, legal, investment, or financial advice. Viewing your balances and transactions through Plaid does not mean KlearBooks can move your money or act as your financial institution.
